The Civic Center has expressed its concern about Albania's return to a waste disposal site from Europe, especially at a time when the country is trying to promote tourism. According to them, the Rama government is aiming to restore the waste import law, which was overthrown in 2016 after citizen protests.
The organization calls on Albanians to be alert to this plan and asks the opposition and civil society to act against it to protect the interests of the country and the tourism sector. The Civic Center also points out that Tirana is already one of the most polluted cities in Europe, making any attempt to bring waste from abroad unacceptable.
FULL POST:
After we failed to absorb tourists from Europe, but we take the leftovers!
At a time when the propaganda of touristic Albania is penetrating violently in every Albanian family, so much so that emigrants are appealed to leave the places where they live and return to the towers to turn them into hostels, the Rama government is returning to the idea of ??turning Albania into a wastebasket big waste for Europe.
Apparently, after failing to attract tourists from European countries, we are ready to take your waste, although time has proven that we are not even managing our waste, as the incinerators turned out to be a corrupt scheme that only burns our money.
The law on the import of waste, which was overthrown in 2016 due to dignified citizen resistance, is being restored by the Rama government, which apparently already has the numbers to finalize this ominous project for the country and the economy.
Instead of tourism being one of the most developed sectors and where it should channel investments and strategies, it does not have the luxury of turning into a big landfill for the rest of Europe for the narrow interests of a corrupt caste of government officials and oligarchs.
Qëndresa Kyttarë invites Albanians to be vigilant about the developments in relation to this project, which has probably returned to the market at the behest of the mafia, that garbage is on the top list of enterprises.
Tirana is one of the most polluted cities in Europe, and any attempt by narrow interests to turn Albania into a garbage container must receive the appropriate response from Albanian citizens.
The Civic Center asks the opposition to become a barrier in Parliament in front of this draft law, while civil society, interest groups and entrepreneurship, mainly in the tourism sector, must be in the block to stop this project. /CNA
