Cardiologist: Do not mix alcohol with energy drinks, it leads to death

Cardiologist Novruz Caushaj says that the effects of energy drinks have a negative effect on children's health, but not only. He explained that high consumption of energy drinks increases the chance of having a heart attack.

"The stimulation of alcohol with the energy drink increases the heart rate, not only that, but only caffeine. An increase in heart rate will increase the demand for oxygen. When you have fast heartbeats, the demand conflicts with the body's replenishment. And at the moment when we have a high demand for oxygen and a small supply of oxygen, a heart attack occurs", said the doctor.

The doctor also explained the psychological effect of energy drinks and the harm of combining them with alcohol.

"When the energy drink is combined with alcohol, it makes the patient want to drink more alcohol, because it softens the effect of depression that alcohol gives as a result of the caffeine it has. There are cases when combining wine with carbonated drinks, or energy drinks with alcohol, is done to soften the level of the initial intake of alcohol, but it does not simply reduce the ability of the body to understand the amount of alcohol that is ingested," said the doctor in Euronews Albania.
