Mr. Prime Minister, beware of the new Minister of Finance
Petrit Malaj

If we open and read the CV of the new Minister of Finance, we notice some data declared by him in the official CVs published on the website of the ministry and, in comparison, even more data that he has (he forgot to update them) on the Linkedin page. ( read here)

The New Minister wrote that:
- He worked from 2002 to 2003 in the banking sector. He advertises this almost 1-year career as a "successful career in the banking sector".
- The gentleman worked at the counters of "Italo Albanian Bank". To the payment office! Who knows 5 things about banks understands what career it is about. With all due respect to the counter workers, advertising as a successful career seems a bit exaggerated.
- The minister was 24 years old at that time. What career are you talking about today?
- The new Minister of Finance speaks German fluently because when no one else had the opportunity, it was possible for him to complete high school in Germany. After finishing high school, it is not known why he came to study at the university in Tirana! Apparently, he answered the call that came from the prime minister 20 years later and returned to study and work in Albania.
- In his official CV, Minister Malay wrote that he worked at "Intesa San-Paolo Group". We are sorry to say but this is simply a lie.

The period when Mr. Malaj worked in the bank he refers to as "Intesa San-Paolo" corresponds to another bank. It is about the "Italo-Albanese" Bank. Intesa San-Paolo appeared as the buyer of the Italo-Albanese bank, when Mr. Malaj was no longer its employee. We cannot say that Intesa San-Paolo had waited for Mr. Malaj to leave for them to make the purchase, but it is certain that Mr. Malaj did not have time to write the employment at "Intesa San Paolo" in his CV, because he had already left.

At the time when Mr. Malaj was an employee at the Italo-Albanian Bank, his father, Limos Malaj, was the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania. It remained as such until 2005.

The Italo-Albanian bank was bought by Intesa in 2005. Mr. Malaj (the minister) himself says in his CV that he had fled from the bank bought by "Intesa", some time ago, in 2003.

Also according to the information, it is true that Mr. Malaj worked at Raiffeisen Bank. But there he was a specialist at the payments office, regarding operations and transfers abroad, not the "head" of any office as Mr. Malaj (the minister) writes on his Linkedin page.

Mr. Malaj (the minister), tells us in his CV that he was a director at "BDO Albania". But it does not tell us that the father, Limos Malaj, was the director, administrator and co-owner of the company. Mr. Limos Malaj is still an administrator at BDO. BDO is an audit company subject to Albanian commercial law, established in 2010.

If the new Minister of Finance is so inaccurate and incomplete in his official explanation of his career, we must believe that he lied or at least was inaccurate with the Prime Minister beforehand. We do not know if the prime minister needed to lie or if Mr. Malaj lied without permission! In general, these are explanations that we can understand, only when we understand which kind of fruit the Malay God prefers. After the Prime Minister caught him eating it of course!/CNA
