Prime Minister Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama has again criticized businesses in the south, which increased prices during this summer season, after the boom of tourists who came to Albania.

Rama said from Himara that the increase in prices was irrational.

He pointed out that this growth has returned to businesses like a boomerang, as vacationers have moved to other less popular but more reasonable restaurants.

"Not that there is no decline, but foreign tourists, compared to years, have increased by 150%. But where is the problem? Undoubtedly, in certain places, and here I am taking Palasa or Ksamil, where the commotion became very big, there was also an irrational jump in prices, but this is the question of the market in the end, you aim for it and then the market gives it the head.

He says, wait, if it were that easy, we'd raise them all, but it's not that easy. But the main thing is that the hotels are super full, while the number of restaurants has increased much more than the beds.

There is a lot to offer. Restaurants that were very frequented before have raised their prices and realized that people have moved to other less popular but more reasonable restaurants.

There is another side to anti-propaganda, that it is competition, that is a fact. An article appeared, about a beach in Marittimo, which makes a price reduction, due to Albania's competition.

Public beaches are made according to a vertical way, but they are working with international expertise, because there are beaches that choose the horizontal way. The number of private tents will be reduced, they want to raise the price, let them do it. But we want to make the beach free for the public. It's free to come, there's no need to say, I have the hotel here, don't pass by.

We will fight informality more, because if you see the income from customs, the growth of consumer goods is extraordinary, but if you see the income from this growth, there is still informality. We are making a system for tracking turnover with fiscalization, also extinguishing artificial intelligence. We will force prices to be posted at the entrance, so we know what we are paying. It's the simple things," the head of government underlined./ CNA
