The head of the Central Election Commission, Ilirian Celibashi, spoke this evening about the 2025 parliamentary elections.

Celibashi said in a TV show that the goal of the CEC is that the diaspora ballots are not delayed for more than 30 days.

He stated that there is a post office that can bring the ballots even faster, but for this the government must give more money.

"We are discussing with the Albanian government and the relevant operators to maybe find another way, but the other way means paying more money to pay for a faster post, so that the time of sending and returning the paper is not go beyond 30 days. This is the most important challenge", he said.

Celibashi emphasized that due to high costs, he did not make such a proposal to political parties.

"We didn't ask for it and we left it to their assessment, but not to say that we stuck with the political parties and the Assembly. The options we are exploring are either we will pay more money and not change the Code, or we will have to change the Code and save some budget. We have presented the facts to all the actors and everyone has the prudence to analyze these facts", underlined the head of the CEC./ CNA
