Boçi: Berisha's release was influenced by the US elections

The vice president of the Democratic Party, Luciano Boçi, commented on the decision to release former prime minister Sali Berisha.

Boçi said on the "Barometer" show that he did not expect this decision.

"In several public appearances, I have expressed a dose of skepticism, based on the political behavior of SPAK, even though the legal situation was clear and clean. And secondly, Berisha was defending the Constitution with his action and the measure was completely in violation of the laws and the Constitution", he said.

The former deputy raised the claim that the decision to release Berisha influenced the outcome of the elections in the USA, where Donald Trump won the Presidency for the second time.

"The change in the atmosphere of the international approach to Berisha's position is an additional factor in making the decision. The elections in the USA have influenced and have had their reflective effect on the Albanian reality", emphasized Boçi./ CNA
