The Greek Foreign Minister has reacted after the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama in Thessaloniki, where he said that some individuals had engaged in protest against his arrival, using flyers and slogans related to the term "Vorio Epirus".

In response to the statement, the Greek Foreign Ministry said that the history between the two countries does not change.

Also, the Greek side demands respect for the rights of the Greek ethnic minority in Albania, as a condition for Albania's EU membership process.

 "The history between the two countries does not change, therefore full respect by Albania of the rights of the Greek ethnic minority is necessary. This constitutes an explicit condition for Albania's membership process, according to the unanimous position of the 27 member states of the European Union dated October 11, 2024," the statement said.

During Rama's meeting with Albanian emigrants in Greece, members of nationalist organizations also participated, who held a protest outside One Salonica.

As the demonstrators said, they are reacting to the presence of the Albanian prime minister in Thessaloniki, as according to them  "the Albanian state is systematically violating the human rights of the recognized Greek minority of Vorio-Epirus", Greek media reports.
