Veliaj accepts intimidating messages

The arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, with two serious charges of corruption and laundering of criminal proceeds, has today received intimidating messages from agents and the prosecutor.

In another reaction published today on social networks, Veliaj says that he sent an intimidating message to one of the agents who had carried out a search at the Tirana Municipality.

Thus, Veliaj clearly clarifies with this statement that he was not arrested to prevent him from leaving the country, but to prevent him from continuing to intimidate and destroy evidence, in addition to the fact that he is facing two very serious charges for which he risks up to 15 years in prison.

"I guess I did what any man would do, I called the anonymous number to find out which civil servant is communicating on WhatsApp on Saturday morning with a woman, a mother, on New Year's Eve? The number went unanswered."
