May 11th Elections/ Celibashi: We have not "got rid" of any voters

The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, spoke about the May 11 election process.

In an interview with "Kafe Shqeto", Celibashi emphasizes that so far things are going well, considering that the registration of voters from abroad has also closed.

Among other things, he emphasized that in terms of fulfilling a duty, the CEC has not 'got rid of' any voters from abroad.

Celibashi said that the opposition has been very active in denouncing negative phenomena in the electoral process, and some of these denunciations have been responded to in accordance with the requests that were made.

"Up until these moments that we speak together, things are going well, I don't want to say very well, but they are going well, at least with the coordination that we have made, so we don't have any problems, especially now that we have passed an important phase of the electoral process, which is voter registration.

In terms of fulfilling a task, we as the CEC have not 'got rid of' any voters from abroad, but I say this because we have removed a task that should have been done.

The nature and content of the complaints from the opposition have been such that they have not prompted us to have a sanctioning process.

We have also had this discussion with representatives of the opposition, or civil society organizations, some of whom are very active in denouncing negative phenomena in the electoral process, and we have responded to some of these denunciations in accordance with the requests they have made.

In the joint discussions we have had, we have pushed and encouraged, because the number of denunciations does not matter, but even if a single one is significant, it matters.

So, there should be cases that are of interest to the public opinion and it should follow and understand what violations are involved, and whoever denounces these violations should also be clear that this is a red line that should not be crossed."/ CNA
