Polish military searches for suspected Russian missile parts

The Polish military announced the resumption of search operations to find parts of a suspected Russian missile that Polish authorities say violated the country's airspace on Friday.

"Today, searches will be conducted in the Lublin Voivodeship region for possible parts of the object that violated Polish airspace yesterday," the Polish military's operational command wrote on the X social media platform.

"The aim is to make sure that no element of the facility will remain on Polish territory," the army announced.

Polish military officials said Friday that the missile had left Polish airspace three minutes after entering from its side of the border with Ukraine.

About 480 soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces participated in the search operation.

On Friday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland urgently summoned the charge d'affaires of Russia for explanations on the violation of the airspace by the guided missile./ VOA
