"Election principles were violated"/ Berisha on May 11: Vote control

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a press statement this Tuesday, where he emphasized the opposition's position on the parliamentary elections of May 11. In his speech from the DP headquarters, Berisha said that in these elections the most fundamental principles of individual freedom were violated, including the freedom of voting, which are part of the country's Constitution and the Electoral Code.

Berisha said that on May 11, all freedoms were overthrown, through flattery, influence, and even threats.

Berisha added that the control of the will of the voters was multifaceted and widespread throughout the country.

"In these elections, the most fundamental principles that the country signed in the Copenhagen document were violated. Albania has signed these principles in the country's Constitution and in the Electoral Code. What happened on May 11 and the entire period leading up to the May 11 elections is a complete reversal of the most fundamental principles of free elections that require voters to freely express their views on the representatives in the elections. The control of the will of the voters was multifaceted and widespread throughout the country, from flattery, influence to threats. So, in principle, anyone who wants to face the truth should see international documents," said Berisha./ CNA
