The Socialist Party has managed to receive 733,727 votes domestically during the 2025 general elections, according to data from the Central Election Commission, which has already counted 5,217 ballot boxes, out of 5,225 in total.

Compared to the 2021 elections, the Socialist Party lost about 34,000 voters, a decrease of 4.5%. The party won the elections by receiving 52.14% of the domestic vote and 61.15% of the emigrants who voted for the first time this year, for a total of 53.26%, which gave it 83 seats.

The Democratic Party – Alliance for a Greater Albania coalition, a coalition between the Democratic Party and 25 other parties, including the Freedom Party (formerly LSI), received 480,225 votes in the 2025 elections, losing nearly 140,000 voters, a decrease of 22.5%.

The DP received 34.27% of the domestic vote and 23.54% of the immigrant vote, with an average of 32.93%, which produced 50 mandates.

If the comparison is made by adding up the votes of the DP and the SMI in 2021, (the DP was in coalition with 13 other parties under the acronym Democratic Party-Alliance for Change, while the SMI competed independently at that time), they received around 729 thousand votes in 2021 (the SMI received 107 thousand votes).

Considering that the Freedom Party (formerly LSI) was within the coalition in 2025, these two parties together have lost 247 thousand voters, a decrease of almost 40% compared to the 2021 elections.

The Democratic Party (excluding LSI) has lost voters in all regions. The deepest decline was in the Fier region, with 25,000 fewer voters, a contraction of 40%.

The second region with the biggest loss is Elbasan, with 18 thousand fewer voters, a reduction of 32.6%. Next comes Korça, where the number of voters has decreased by 27% (-17 thousand voters). In all regions, the DP has recorded a double-digit decline. The lowest shrinkage is in Tirana with 17% fewer (-31 thousand voters).

Including the LSI votes, the sharpest percentage drop continues to be in Fier (-48%), followed by Gjirokastra (-41%), Elbasan (-39%), Korça (38%). The smallest decline is in Kukës (-21%), where the LSI had almost no voters in 2021.

The Socialist Party has managed to increase voters in four districts, Shkodër (+15%), or 4.5 thousand more voters; Dibër with 11.8% (+3.4 thousand voters); Fier with 5.9%, or 5.4 thousand additional voters, and Lezha with a minimal increase of 1.1% of voters compared to the 2021 elections.

The biggest loss of voters for the SP was in Kukës with 20% less (-2.9 thousand voters); Berat, with a decrease of 13% (-5.5 thousand voters) and Vlorë (-9.8%, or 5.8 thousand less). The SP also had almost 19 thousand fewer voters in Tirana, with a decrease of 8.3%./Monitor Magazine
