Discussion table/ Berisha: Durrës with the National Road and Corridor VIII

The Democratic Party has organized a roundtable discussion in Durrës regarding the port. Also present at the organized roundtable was the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, who described the port of Durrës as the biggest corrupt affair.

Berisha stated that the port of Durres has served as a bridgehead connecting Albanians with the West, being an important factor in several aspects. Further, Berisha stated that Durres lacked a fishing port and a marina.

The Chief Democrat said that Durrës has been classified by the European Union as a port of strategic importance and with the construction of the National Road and Corridor VIII, it became the epicenter of transport in the region.

 

"The issue we are raising today is currently the biggest corruption affair. This affair goes at least to the appropriation of public property, number 1 is the port of Durrës. After the port comes the cascade. The port has served as a bridgehead connecting Albanians with the West. It has been a very important factor in prices, in transport. The history of this corruption, Durrës in 2013 had the area designated for its own marina. The most important city we have, lacked a fishing port, it lacked a marina.

"The EU authority had classified Durrës as a port of strategic importance. Everything was stabilized. Durrës with the new infrastructure, with the National Road, with Corridor 8, with the north-south axis, became the main epicenter of transport in the region ," said Berisha.
