Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, said today that the government has not considered intervening in the turnover tax, related to the increase in oil prices due to the conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement at the end of today's government meeting, Ibrahimaj announced that a 20% reduction in excise duty is currently being considered, in cases where the price of oil exceeds 220 lek.

"We do not think there is any need to intervene in the circulation tax. It is not collected in this way because it is easier, but because it is fairer. Whoever uses more fuel, pays more circulation tax. This is also due to pollution. We have considered a reduction in excise duty by 20%. This act guarantees that excise duty will be reduced whenever the price exceeds 220 lek. The taxes have not changed, they are public and transparent and have not changed", - the minister emphasized./CNA
