Bujar Leskaj: The Law on Strategic Investors, a complete failure approved by

Democratic MP Bujar Leskaj accused the majority today of failing with the law on strategic investors in Albania.

In his speech at today's session in the Assembly, Leskaj raised concerns that the law has intentionally overlooked the promotion of two important sectors in a country's economy, such as industry and agriculture.

According to Leskaj, the law adopted in 2015 has not brought the desired effects over the course of a decade.

"The law on strategic investors is actually a complete failure, a false strategy and without institutional integrity. At the end of 2015, the ruling Rama sect approved the law on strategic investments, supposedly to promote foreign investments in the country's economy. The law intentionally bypassed the promotion of the industrial and agricultural sectors. In fact, over more than a decade, the majority has postponed the effect of the law over 5-6 times. Only two are foreign investments, one Korean and one Arab, out of 48 strategic investment projects," said Leskaj. /CNA
