Shehi: Changing the practice of non-detention serves politicians who are waiting

Politician Dashamir Shehi stated that a possible change in detention practice in Albania should serve Albanian citizens and not politicians who have been waiting for years to be sentenced.

Shehi emphasized in a television studio that there are doubts that such an initiative has a political background.

According to Shehi, it would be good if a broad review of the issue were conducted solely with the aim of changing the system.

"The best thing would be to serve Albanians. Because as many people are in detention as they are in prison. At this moment I doubt it. Maybe it wasn't the right moment to do it. Because in detention are also these people that Albanians have been waiting for years to be sentenced, they are politicians. I doubt that this will also have a political background. There are about 4,000-5,000 people in detention. The stock is not that large in the world. It would be good if everyone saw it, not in groups and at certain times. In detention there are also people caught with hashish. It is not a problem, compared to other crimes. This should also be seen to help the system", - said Shehaj. /CNA
