Meeting with Kallas/Rama: Without the EU, justice before the law would not

Prime Minister Edi Rama held a conference today with the EU's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, who is on a short visit to Tirana. In his speech, Rama emphasized that without the EU, the process of equality before the law in justice would be impossible.

Rama said that with the will of the government, it has been decided to support justice and the implementation of the law.

Raama added that since 1912, there has never been a single person or official who has faced justice and equality before the law.

"I tell you here that starting from 1912, there has never been a person or official who has faced justice and equality before the law. Albania has gone from the Ottoman Empire to the communist dictatorship and back into transition, but never in so many years has there been a confrontation of high officials with justice and before the law. It does not depend on the will of one government or another, the prime minister or another, to be a non-negotiable norm and inviolable by anyone anymore and if we become part of the family this is inalienable further.

This is related to the will of this government that leads the country and carried out the justice reform and the EU's support in this process like never before. Seen from a historical perspective and with an eye to the future, I am not satisfied, but I am proud that it is one of those important cornerstones that history remembers and holds as moments of history and truth. We will support this process of equality before the law and the European Union supports us on this path, because without the EU this process would be impossible", said Rama./CNA
