The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, and the delegation accompanying him on his visit to Strasbourg, held a meeting with the conservative group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
During the speech given at this meeting, the chief democrat informed the members of this group about the real situation in which Albania is and how the country has turned into a narco-dictatorship led by Edi Rama. Berisha emphasized the fact that Edi Rama seeks to obtain his 4th mandate by arresting opposition leaders.
During the session with the conservative group in the Council of Europe, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, and the delegation that accompanied him requested observation missions to Albania from the European Parliament.
Berisha also told members of the conservative group in the EC about the clashes with the American ambassador in Tirana in 2015 after Albania was planted with cannabis.
He also spoke about clashes with George Soros, about the influence he had in Albania, how he gained power when the Open Balkans was created, and the project for the division of Kosovo.
He also spoke in Strasbourg about the wiretaps revealed by CNA on Mayor Erion Veliaj.
Sali Berisha's full statement.
Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished members of the European Parliament.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this great honor that you have done me, to present to you in this session, the current situation in Albania.
I have been here more than in any other international institution.
I came as the president of the country. I came as the leader of the opposition, for 8 years in a row.
I came as Prime Minister. But today, almost 30 years after Albania's membership in the Council of Europe, unfortunately my country is the first and only narco-dictatorship state in Europe.
Albania in this 30th anniversary is a country where, before the elections, the prime minister aims for a 4th term, by arresting the three main leaders of the Albanian opposition.
They arrested me for 330 days without any criminal record. They accused me of passive corruption and a bill for a week of vacation for health reasons.
My son-in-law has been under 'house arrest' for 440 days over a 110-meter property that was inherited by his grandparents, everything documented with official documents that belongs to his family.
The other leader of the second opposition party, former president, former prime minister of the country, Ilir Meta, was brutally arrested while entering Tirana, being dragged from his car and without showing his identification documents.
Even though he is a person under investigation, he is in prison, even though there are no charges against him.
The third leader of the other opposition party is Fatmir Mediu, the former Minister of Defense during Albania's NATO membership, and is being tried for a case that was closed 15 years ago without any concrete facts.
Also, Fredi Beleri, a member of the European Parliament, was imprisoned after Edi Rama sought to acquire thousands of square meters of land near the sea.
Also, Ervin Salianji, another MP, was arrested because he denounced the brother of the former Minister of Interior, after he had been convicted in Italy for directing drug trafficking from Vlora.
Now if you take into account the population of Albania, the country also lost the right to innocence, this has happened to justice. Albania has become a narco-state, the only country in Europe. In 2015 Edi Rama filled Albania with cannabis, and implicated the police in planting cannabis.
About 12 billion euros were generated by cannabis traffickers, and then they were linked to Latin American traffickers and are now very powerful with their connections to cartels, such as the Sinaloa cartel.
Honorable members, Edi Rama himself is tired of these organizations. In his office there is an advisor who coordinates the activities of these organizations. He has received in his office, the Albanian boss of Sinaloa and has given him permission for a casino and a 5-star hotel.
Organized crime is very famous and very involved in the elections. French, Belgian and Dutch authorities have handed over thousands and thousands of pages of organized crime messages, taken from encrypted phones. The communication reaches Edi Rama and his ministers.
It was discovered that half of the communications were also related to election fraud and we are now in the electoral elections. The Prime Minister is distributing gifts to pensioners, giving them 100 euros per person, to secure their vote.
There are over 700 Albanians. It is a government decision to provide pension bonuses for votes. But there are also tens and hundreds of millions of euros of cannabis that were used to buy votes, as well as the mafia's threats to people who vote for them.
Albania is in a desperate situation. From 2014-2023, 1 million 99 thousand Albanians have left the country, fleeing to the Schengen area. The economy and industrial production are declining. Exports as a result of drug trafficking euros have been devalued by 35% and exports have fallen by 32% and thousands of Albanians are losing their jobs.
A prime minister that Europe has never seen, who runs a country like a dictator and a narco-dictator. You cannot understand what is happening, which is why I am here to tell you the truth and assure you that people have no other choice but to fight the narco-dictator.
I am convinced that he will have no future. The drug state is not dangerous, but it is dangerous for the entire continent of Europe and I thank you for your attention.
Thank you very much for your questions. First, I am very sorry to tell the public that at least. The American Ambassador has helped Edi Rama a lot in installing the narcotics state. In 2015, when all of Albania was covered in cannabis, he went and praised the police, saying: 'I congratulate you for the extraordinary work against cannabis, against drugs.' I went and met him. I said: 'Sir, this is support. What is this theater that is happening?'
He said to me, ‘We don’t worry about soft drugs.’ But I said to him, ‘Look, these soft drugs can have terrible consequences for my nation. This is a crime, because everywhere there are people who guard the plots and fall prey to temptations.’ And this is at least a complete violation.
But Edi Rama has been the leader most protected, most invested by George Soros. And my problem with billionaire George Soros is old. I have been very confrontational with him. For years I have demanded that his political activity in Europe be banned.
I have asked the European Parliament to stop him, because he buys politicians everywhere, etc., etc. He has an extreme leftist agenda. He restores the monism model, taking all the NGOs and putting them under the umbrella of the old Communist Party.
My clash with him became greater when he got involved in Balkan politics. He became the main factor in foreign policy for the Balkans. He wanted the partition of Kosovo, a project of Milosevic, which was brought to me through intermediaries several times during the time I was President of the Republic. Now George Soros stamped and signed the project as his own. Of course I opposed it. And he was very unhappy.
One day Edi Rama said to me in Parliament: 'Sali, can you cross the Atlantic?' I said: 'Yes, I can.' He doesn't know. 'You got a message,' he said. 'I didn't get any message,' I said. But he told his people that Sali was sanctioned for conspiring against American politics. I have never conspired. I have always been public. But they failed.
While Secretary Pompeo was in office, they sent nothing. As soon as President Trump left office, three weeks after the election, I was sanctioned for corruption and undermining democracy by the man who had praised me more than anyone else for my successes in the fight against corruption when he was Joe Biden's top advisor. This was Anthony Blinken, a man very close to George Soros.
I wrote him a letter. I said: 'Mr. Secretary, as soon as you find a single piece of evidence of my corruption, I will retire from politics forever. But you made the decision based on a corrupt lobbying by Edi Rama and George Soros.' Thirdly, I sued him in court, because he injured my dignity and I am defending my dignity and I sued him. They were angry about this and tried, but they failed. I continued my battle, and it is a long story. I do not want to take your time, but they have played a very negative role. This is my answer to this.
As for Soros, as I told you before: if you ask me what Albania is today, Albania is a republic of George Soros. Yes.
To illustrate, Mr. President, the mayor of Tirana has been arrested for corruption. A few days, a few weeks ago, he gave an instruction to his wife: 'Don't go to the American Embassy, ??the power has changed there, wait until Alex comes and things will change.' It was about Alex Soros. Nobody reacted, because after this battle, the State Department, under the leadership of Anthony Blinken, did everything to isolate me and to control every contact I had with my party. This is true. That's why people were not very keen to deal with these issues.
Yes, you can help us a lot. You can help us. First, send a fact-finding mission, because you will hear incredible things. And when you touch the reality there, then you can find a way to help my nation, to help my country free itself from this narco-dictatorship. We will fight and we will continue to fight, but we also need the help of free people, wherever they are. And from European governments and our friends everywhere. Thank you very much.
We have choices. Your observation is very important. Now, I said something, but the media is 80%, more than 80% controlled by the government. In the end, just like Habibullah of Kabul, he blocked TikTok. And now he has installed, he had installed DPI devices to control the internet as well.
This is true. This is true! As soon as young people started criticizing him on TikTok, he banned and blocked TikTok two weeks ago. He does everything to limit our communication with people./ CNA
