Salmonella meat scandal/ Tirana AKU director dismissed

The director of the National Food Agency of Tirana, Fatjon Pasholli, has been dismissed from his post. It is learned that his dismissal comes after the scandal of chicken with salmonella, which became public a few days ago, but also after strawberries with pesticides were released on the market.

Alketa Hoxha, who held the position of legal director at the AKU, was appointed in his place.

These last two cases have been some of the major concerns regarding food safety, which have created alarm in the market and especially among consumers.

In these first months of 2025, several cases of products that put the health of consumers in the country at risk have been published. /CNA
