"A European passport is not needed to escape, but for dignity"/ Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted this Saturday to an ironic comment on the social network "Facebook", through his weekly column "Sy m'Sy".

The comment of a citizen who said: "What do we want in the EU, you painter, we are leaving without passports..." received a response from the head of government.

Rama said that the European passport is not a means to flee the country, but a symbol of dignity and equality for Albanian citizens in the European Union.

Among other things, Rama added that the passport is needed to ensure the dignity of the equal European citizen, whether as a traveler, student, employee or as part of a society that respects rights and offers equal opportunities for all.

"Dear Kristi, when you say you are a painter, do you mean to show that you are right? Because you think you do not need Albania's European passport, since according to you we are leaving without passports?! The European passport is not needed to leave, but to leave, to leave... Even with the one we have! You are right! The European passport is needed to finally gain the dignity of an equal European citizen. The dignity of the European traveler who is not pulled aside at every entrance to the EU to be asked by a policeman, where are you going? The dignity of the European student, the dignity of the European employee, of the free, equal person who enjoys every European right and every opportunity offered by the European solidarity network. Are these few?! Now, despising the work of others is easy, but it does not help you live better. On the contrary, my grandmother used to say, black and powerful anger!", Rama expressed.
