"On May 11th we will see if the allies will justify themselves"/

The Democratic Party's candidate for deputy in the Tirana district, Ilir Alimehmeti, gave an interview to CNA, where he spoke about his candidacy, the situation in the Democratic Party, and whether he will run for mayor of Tirana.

Alimehmeti first focused on his candidacy on the open lists of the Democratic Party, which he said offers direct democracy. According to Alimehmeti, every MP should be on the open list.

Alimehmeti also spoke about the DP coalition allies, for whom he said that it will be seen on May 11 whether they will justify themselves.

" I have always been for direct democracy, which means that the voter should choose not only the political entity and the principles of this entity, although this is the basis, but should also choose the individual within this force who thinks that these principles can be achieved and supported as they should be. In this regard, the open list is what offers us direct democracy. In this regard, a form of democracy called bottom-up is also created, which is another democratic principle that I support and which means that the open list is the fixed place for which I think every candidate should be. The main debate I would like to have is whether the list is winning or not? For this, now that the team has been created, we must guarantee that the team works towards the program and with the people ," said Alimehmeti.

Would a winning list be one with greater inclusion of candidates with the most votes in the primaries, and does the inclusion of candidates in safe seats for MPs penalize you?

The primaries are a process for the DP. It is up to those who have negotiated the coalitions and made the final decisions, on May 11 we will see on a national scale whether the allied forces will justify themselves.

What happens to the gray electorate?

It is very difficult today to understand who the gray electorate is. The population is much more pragmatic and does not need to have a party card to be called Right or Gray. There is a wide spectrum of different opinions. They think about themselves, their family and their community. The vast majority of Albanians have their family at the center of attention and if we go through the program and explain to them that it is in favor of the family and family values, the vast majority agree. On the other hand, we need names who take over the implementation of the program after the victory. For the SP they vote with their eyes closed because they vote for the color, with us they vote for the individual because we are a party of values.

What is the difference between the Democratic Party with leader Lulzim Basha and leader Sali Berisha?

I entered politics actively in April 2022 and I can't tell you much about the 2021 campaign because I wasn't very involved and I'm also not the type to sit back, I look ahead and on May 11 we will see the result. They haven't been easy years. I told you that I entered the DP in April 2022, in the worst year of the DP./ CNA
