This Wednesday, the Tirana Municipal Council meeting was held for the first time, without the presence of the now-arrested mayor Erion Veliaj, who was replaced by the acting mayor Anuela Ristani.

At the start of the meeting, the member of the Tirana Municipal Council from the Democratic Party, Ilda Zhulali, said that the media had learned of two orders regarding dismissals and appointments in the country's first municipality, while she asked to be familiar with the official letter on who currently runs the municipality and who signs in the absence of Veliaj, who is in detention.

" We have requested two requests in writing. The first is to make available to us the documents signed by Erion Veliaj on who currently runs the Municipality of Tirana. We have learned from the media about two orders, one from February appointing Anuela Ristani and another from March appointing Sara Goxhaj. I don't know why this document, which is a legal obligation, is not coming so that we can know who currently runs the Municipality of Tirana ," said Zhulali.

In response, the Mayor of the Municipal Council, Romina Kuko, said that they should request more information from the council's secretary, while Zhulali said that they have followed this procedure and have not yet been officially informed of the letter.

" The Secretariat informs me that it has all the necessary information, so you can contact the Secretariat at any time ," said Kuko.

Following this, the deputy mayor of the municipal council, Dorian Teliti, made a repeated request for the establishment of a commission for internal financial control. The Democrat said that this request was rejected by the socialists, despite the insistence of the opposition.

" I repeat 100 times the establishment of the Internal Financial Control Commission, especially in the situation we are in today. A situation that is abnormal, temporary and this makes the establishment even more important an hour ago. I don't understand what you are afraid of and what you are afraid of ," said Teliti.
