Prime Minister Edi Rama was present today at the final stage of the International Competition for Architectural Project Ideas for the Renaissance of the "Selman Stërmasi" Stadium, where the 5 finalist teams will present architectural concepts for a new stadium according to UEFA standards, category IV.

In his speech, Rama said that this project will turn that area into a new center of Tirana. Rama called the reconstruction of the "Selman Stermasi" stadium a nucleus for a new urban center.

The competing teams are several groups of companies, offering to carry out the architectural concepts for this important football project.

"The implementation projects have been done and the IC has announced the competition for developers, so everyone is invited to look at all three of these development opportunities. The stadiums are new urban centers, in Durrës, Vlorë and Korçë. Now it's the turn of the Selman Stermasi stadium, and this, according to the request made for the studios, is another core for a new urban center, which I am convinced that considering the competitors, we will be in the conditions where we will make a good choice.

I would like to mention here some other processes that have been started, the construction of the new administrative center that will accommodate 18 institutions, for the construction of the new Cadastre building, the new national library with a competition that will be announced soon. Meanwhile, the Manchester City academy in Durrës is being worked on and is on site, and soon the Nadal academy in Durrës. The agency is in discussions with the NBA for the NBA academy also in Durrës, where we want to build a sports academy destination.

Finally, soon, I say this because I know that there are quite a few company representatives here, IC will also announce the processes for the construction of a new parking system in the capital and the coast, where we will include all international architects, with whom we will also organize an architecture festival in early July. Regarding parking, we have to respond to a major challenge, which is the need for more parking and for an acceptable traffic system that has begun to show signs of obvious difficulty", said Rama./CNA
