Lawyer Brizida Gjikondi has stated that the revelation of wiretapping against Veliaj has confirmed the serious crisis facing Albanian journalism, which lacks an ethical, moral and professional code.
In an interview with CNA, Gjikondi stated that a law is needed to provide support to the media to uncover documents so that Albanians can judge what is good and what is bad.
"Media campaigns in favor of incriminated persons have no influence, but when they are public or political figures, they definitely affect the negative adrenaline that Albanians feel towards justice. I have been a lawyer since 1994 and I know how the justice system works and it has never been common for the prosecution to be so independent and uninfluenced by strong opinions, for or against a certain issue."
"I repeat, cases like this one of the last two months (the disclosure of Veliaj's wiretaps) confirm the serious crisis that Albanian journalism is facing, the lack of an ethical, moral, professional code. There needs to be a law that gives the media support so that it can disclose documents, not make interpretations, so that Albanians can judge what is good and what is bad," Gjikondi said.
Jursitja told CNA that at the time the process began, the poison that was generated, the aggressiveness, the psychological violence against the new Albanian justice system that until yesterday this same majority was elevating to a pedestal, created a great psychological shock and proved that not only an elite part of the majority but also including the prime minister, did not have the knowledge of how the psychology of Albanians works./ CNA
