Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha held a meeting with the DP branch in Gjirokastra on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of its founding.

During his speech, the leader of the Democratic Party made serious accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama, whom he often calls a thief and part of criminal gangs in our country.

Berisha considers the flight of young people from Albania catastrophic, as according to him, even in the most savage wars, civil or invasion, they have not abandoned the country, as Albanians have abandoned during this narco-state invasion.

"Dear friends!

What happened in these 12 years is incomparable in relation to our national being, to our civic being, nor to the most savage invasions in history from the time of Dushan to today.

In 10 years, 2014-2024, 1 million and 99 thousand citizens have left Albania in the EU area alone. If we add here those who have left for the USA, Britain, Australia, Canada and the whole world, I guarantee you that they are over 45 percent of Albanians. And of these 45% of Albanians, dear friends, 70% are young.

"Never has a nation, even in the most savage wars, civil or invasion, abandoned its country, as the Albanians have during this narco-state invasion."

Meanwhile, Berisha stated that southern Albania has remained more empty than any other territory in Albania.

The former Prime Minister emphasized that Edi Rama has taken traffickers from the entire region and rushed them to the South.

"In this catastrophic emptying, the south of the country has been emptied more than any other territory of Albania.

What the south, a region blessed with all its wealth, with smart and hardworking people, with a wonderful culture and tradition of work and production, has suffered, has never been experienced by any other region in the region, in Europe, or in the world.

It is enough to go today to Labovo, Nepravishte, Zagori and see what is left. While there you see wonderful villages, you see amazing valleys, you see endless natural wealth, or Lunxhëria.

The South concentrated on several cities on the coast, where half of them were occupied by the traffickers and mafia of Edi Rama, who initially said that a Gjon had come to us. The university is almost being wiped out. The teachers who work in Ioannina or elsewhere, and receive their salary at the university and do not teach a single day. Others who are not visible at all. This is the real picture of Gjirokastra today. But like Gjirokastra, Albania as a whole is.
