Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has repeatedly targeted the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, who in more than two years at the head of the Special Prosecution Office set a new standard and brought hot files out of the dust.
The files, which led many officials, former mayors, mayors, former ministers, former MPs, directors of the Municipality of Tirana, former deputy prime ministers, while intensive investigations are being conducted for Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, but former president Ilir Meta is also behind bars for corruption, while the leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, Sali Berisha, has been returned to the security measure of mandatory appearance.
Structured criminal groups have been cracked down on and many members or gang leaders have been arrested or put on the wanted list.
But, it seems that Berisha does not appreciate all these attacks on crime and corruption, as the standard is that when SPAK attacks the opponent, it is good, while when it attacks from the right, it is the enemy.
Today, former Prime Minister Berisha repeated his contradictory stance regarding SPAK leader Altin Dumani. After blackening him with statements during a meeting, he made a comparison with the time when Dumani was part of the Task Force created in 2008.
According to Berisha, at that time Dumani was a champion of the fight against corruption, while today, his results are poor.
After calling SPAK the shield of the ruling party, Berisha, on the other hand, says that the Task Force headed by Dumani had done a good job with high results, while today he declares that in two years at the head of SPAK, the results are not comparable, to emphasize that it has a poor performance.
"The party's Special and Specialized Structure for Corruption, SKAP, has been transformed into a shield.
The Task Force of 2007-2013, which was actually headed by prosecutors, but consisted of a larger group of prosecutors and not prosecutors, police officers and intelligence officers, which made it impossible to hide and manipulate the file.
This Task Force in 2007-2008, according to statistics published in the State Department reports, indicted 1,430 employees.
Of these, 630 employees were convicted by the court.
In the two peak years of this special prosecution, a total of 199 people were convicted at a time when crimes were as high as a mountain," Berisha said.
But let's remember Berisha's statement about Dumani at the time he was the Task Force prosecutor.
"Who removed the prosecutor who was fighting corruption? Who removed him? With whom Albania..., for that fight against corruption, Albania became a world example and there are documents for the chapter it marked. Edi Rama and Sali Berisha's opponents put extraordinary pressure on him. He could not resist and said, I am leaving. It was the Task Force prosecutor, the chief prosecutor of the Task Force, Dumani," Berisha declared at the time.
So, these are Berisha's two contradictory standards and positions vis-à-vis Dumani. /CNA
