Overseas voter registration system/ Celibashi: We have respected all the

Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi presented the CEC report for 2024, at the joint meeting of the Laws Committee and the Committee on Civic Initiatives.

During his speech, Celibashi focused on the completion of the mandate of the members of the Regulatory Commission and the submission of several acts by him, which he said he submitted within the deadline for the end of the mandates.

Further, Celibashi spoke about the process of registering voters from abroad, which he said is similar to similar systems around the world and all verifications have been made by political representatives. Regarding this system, Velibashi stated that all requirements regarding the integrity of the Assembly have been respected.

 

" The relationship between the Commissioner and the Regulatory Commission, they themselves have the right to meet and adopt acts. I have proposed several acts that are within their competence to be adopted. I proposed them within the period in which they were in office, their duty ended yesterday. My responsibility ended the moment I sent the proposals.

Regarding the process of registering voters from abroad, today I am hearing for the first time that the registration system has been a problem. The system that we have built is comparable to similar ones anywhere in the world. All verifications have been made by representatives of political parties. We have respected all the requirements of the Assembly regarding the integrity of this system. We will have to change either the voting method or the counting method. It must be re-addressed. The CEC has nothing more to do to issue the results , "said Celibashi.
