The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xha?ka, stated that after the war in Ukraine, the EU has a more positive approach towards the Western Balkans region.

At the Balkan Forum in Budapest, Xhaçka said that he sees positive signals from the EU for integration and that the government expects to hold the Second Intergovernmental Conference in 2023.

"Ne shohim një ndryshim në qasjen e BE ndaj rajonit, sidomos pas agresionit të paligjshëm rus në Ukrainë. Tashmë BE ka një qasje më strategjike ndaj Ballkanit Perëndimor, dhe perspektiva e integrimit evropian është e besueshme. Mbajtja e Samitit BE - BP në Tiranë ishte një mesazh i fortë i mbështetjes për rajonin, por edhe i përkushtimit të BE ndaj integrimit evropian të Ballkanit Perëndimor", u shpreh Xhaçka.

Për sa i përket luftës në Ukrainë ajo ka ritheksuar qëndrimin dhe mbështjen e Shqipërisë dhe ka bërë thirrje për respektim të sovranitetit të Ukrainës.

"Our country has maintained a clear and courageous position in the SC, denouncing aggression and working diplomatically with allies to isolate Russia. This position is in line not only with our allies, but also with our national interest, as we believe that an international system based on rules, with the UN Charter as its main pillar, is vital for the security of countries like Albania . I don't know what more the UN can do to achieve peace in Ukraine, but I can say that this peace must begin with the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," said she ./ CNA.al
