The MP of the Movement for National Development Party has stated today in the Economy Committee that the government should make a massive increase in salaries, in order to cover the living costs that the citizens are facing.

According to him, "patches" with teachers' salaries, or the indexation of pensioners' salaries, does not help the situation.

Shehi says that fiscal evasion must be fought, and there is no need to pay 12,000 police officers for a population that is shrinking day by day.

"Every year, the budget is repeated, due to the price effect. We have to attack two major problems, poverty and immigration, and this budget is not going to do much. I think that we, as the economy commission, should take into account some long-term plans where we should go, then the government will take them into account or not. Massive wage increases are needed. All this achievement is worthless. I heard some raises for teachers yesterday. The rectorate has some money in a corner and they are telling them to raise their salaries by 15%. Let's block a part of the evasion, and the rest, as is done in any society, which undertakes to make major reforms, we don't keep 84 thousand people, we don't have to keep 12 thousand policemen for a population that is approaching 2 million inhabitants."- said Shehi. /CNA.al
