Rama and Manastirliu in Greece/ Financial support for Albanian language teachers

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu held a meeting with Albanian teachers in Greece, where the financial support program for the first 50 Albanian language teachers in Greece has just been launched for the first time.

"This is just the beginning, the first group of swallows that herald this spring of the Albanian language in Greece, and our ambition is to increase this number, so that there is no area left unserved by Albanian language teachers," said Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu said that contracts for the first 50 teachers in Greece will be signed today.

"The 'Teachers for Albania' program, this initiative of the Albanian government, is formalized today with the signing of the contracts of the first 50 teachers who teach Albanian in Greece. This is only the first phase of this program, which we want to extend to other countries, to give the second and third generations of Albanians in the diaspora the opportunity not only to preserve their language but also to integrate more easily, if they choose to return to Albania," said Manastirliu.

For the first time, volunteer Albanian language teachers will be paid by the state for teaching the Albanian language in Greece.

The Minister of Education and Sports said that a core of licensed professionals is being created who will teach Albanian to children of the Albanian community in Greece based on a unified program, curricula and textbooks, which are guaranteed free of charge by the Albanian government, through the Ministry of Education and Sports. /CNA
