The Greek media " To Vima " has devoted an article to the protests in front of the Tirana City Hall against the corruption of the directors of Erion Veliaj and the arrest of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

What are the causes of the protests in Tirana, against the mayor Erion Veliaj?

As I have denounced since the election campaign in 2023, the mayor of the Municipality of Tirana and the candidate of the Socialist Party, Erion Veliaj, abused public funds and the administration of the Municipality of Tirana to secure the third mandate.

In addition to his misuse of state funds and his ties to organized crime groups, he bought votes and intimidated voters.

Is there any evidence for these allegations?

First, the report of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe for the May 2023 elections, citing the same concerns, called for measures to be taken by the Albanian judicial authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.

However, the Special Prosecutor's Office intervened 7 months after the elections, arresting the mayor's right-hand man and the head of his election campaign, on the charge of abuse of office for the corruption scandal of the Tirana incinerator. Two months ago, the Special Prosecutor's Office indicted all 6 directors of the municipality.

Since the mayor of Tirana denies any involvement in the scandal, the opposition has called on citizens to protest.

We have held 8 demonstrations so far calling on the president to resign and asking the Special Prosecutor's Office to call him to account as the main financial and political beneficiary of the unprecedented corruption scandal.

Mediat ndërkombëtare, si “The Times”, “El Pais” etj., e kanë cilësuar Shqipërinë si një “narko-shtet”, duke zbuluar lidhjet mes zyrtarëve të qeverisë dhe karteleve të drogës.

Pse zoti Berisha u vendos në arrest shtëpie?

Më 20 tetor 2023, Prokuroria e Posaçme (SPAK) dhe Gjykata (GKKO), të kontrolluara nga Edi Rama, urdhëruan zotin Berisha të paraqitej rregullisht në policinë gjyqësore, duke i ndaluar edhe daljen nga vendi. Avokatët e zotit Berisha kërkuan kalimin e çështjes në Gjykatën Kushtetuese, por gjyqtari i emëruar politikisht nuk pranoi.

Nga data 31 dhjetor (2023) e deri më sot, zoti Berisha është i vetmi politikan në Evropë, i ndaluar për arsye politike, pa asnjë kallëzim penal, në arrest shtëpie, ndërsa është ende nën hetim.

Për më tepër, në kundërshtim me Kushtetutën dhe Konventën Evropiane për të Drejtat e Njeriut (KEDNJ), liderit të opozitës i ndalohet të komunikojë me këdo tjetër përveç familjarëve të tij që jetojnë me të.

Së fundmi u zbulua se gjyqtarja që dha këtë vendim, Irena Maneku Shpata, akuzohet për falsifikim dokumentesh dhe i është ndaluar për 12 vite hyrja në Greqi dhe në vendet e tjera të Shengenit.

A ka lidhje mes çështjes "Berisha" dhe burgosjes së Fredi Belerit?

Sigurisht që nuk është rastësi që e njëjta gjyqtare, zonja Manekou Shpata, u zgjodh për të gjykuar të dyja çështjet, duke shkelur si Kushtetutën ashtu edhe ligjet, nga njëra anë duke kufizuar kreun e opozitës në ushtrimin e detyrës si deputet dhe nga ana tjetër, duke penguar zotin Beleri që të betohet si kryetar i zgjedhur i Bashkisë Himarë.

Është e qartë se Edi Rama po përdor drejtësinë kundër opozitës.

Cila është arsyeja e pengimit të zotit Beleri për të marrë detyrën e kryetarit të Bashkisë së Himarës?

Z. Beleri u arrestua menjëherë pas kërcënimit publik të kryeministrit në televizionin kombëtar se ai "do të merrej personalisht me të". Z. Rama, ministrat e qeverisë së tij dhe miqtë e tij oligarkë kanë një interes të madh për pronat e paluajtshme në jug, duke përfshirë Himarën, një destinacion kryesor turistik në Shqipëri.

Në Himarë kanë nevojë për një kryetar bashkie që mund ta kontrollojnë plotësisht për t'u shërbyer interesave të tyre financiare, duke i hapur rrugën ndërtimit të resorteve turistike, përmes të cilave do të pastrohen paratë "e zeza".

Mendoni se zoti Rama po rrezikon rrugën evropiane të Shqipërisë?

Mr. Rama has failed to implement any of the standards related to the country's EU membership process. He wants to avoid any supervision or control by EU institutions.

At the same time, he will try to use any pretext as an alibi to divert attention from serious internal problems related to the lack of the rule of law.

"Rama's image has collapsed"

Why Mr. Rama chose to come to Greece for a pre-election meeting a year before the elections?

The image of Mr. Rama has collapsed in the country. He is trying to build a nationalist rhetoric to overshadow his scandals and bear fruit in the next elections. His poor governance causes mass migration to Europe, which accounts for a third of Albania's total population.

According to Eurostat, Albanian asylum seekers are the second largest group, after Syrians. It is extremely unfortunate that Mr. Rama did not allow any of the accomplished members of the Albanian Diaspora to speak at the Galatsi event.
