DP calls on SPAK: Investigate Agron Malaj for tender abuses, it has favored

The head of the PD branch in Mat, Denisa Vata, said from the blue headquarters that SPAK should call the mayor of Mat, Agron Malaj, since there is a lawsuit against him since November 2023.

According to Vata, the socialist mayor of Mati has used his power to obtain contracts with public money in favor of his family members.

Vata denounced that the Malay family company "GLOBAL SECURITY" during the years 2014-2023 has benefited 5.4 billion ALL from 360 transactions with state institutions.

"Why are Agron Malaj's brothers approved within a day by the Mat Water Basin Council for permits for the use of water and the source, without taking into account the legal factors and the demands of the citizens? What has been done by the state bodies cited by KLSH to change this situation for HEC Traja 1 and HEC Madhesh? Where did Agron Malaj's brother find the money to build a luxury hotel in Pedonalen near the former camp in Dhërmi?", she said.

Why does SPAK not call the mayor of Mat, Agron Malaj, even though there is an official complaint against him by the largest opposition party and dozens of indications in other ways of criminal activity?

Agron Malaj tells his colleagues in Mat that he is untouchable and has nothing to do with SPAK, that he has arranged things with them, but that is between him and the Prosecutor's Office.

What the Matjans are interested in is uncovering the truth and holding abusers accountable with their taxes. For the violations committed by the Mayor A. Malaj, the Democratic Party has filed criminal report no. Protocol 273 in November last year.

The Democratic Party, on behalf of the residents of the MAT municipality and the public interest, has several questions, to which SPAK must respond by launching in-depth and immediate investigations:

- Why does the company Global Security, where the mayor was the owner until November 2019 and now is his brother, repeatedly wins contracts, even through negotiation without announcing the contract notice as in the case of UKT Tirana?

- Why are Agron Malaj's brothers approved within a day by the Mat Water Basin Council for permits for the use of water and the source, without considering the legal factors and the demands of the citizens?

- What has been done by the state bodies cited by KLSH to change this situation for HEC Traja 1 and HEC Madhesh?

- Where did Agron Malaj's brother find the money and access to build a luxury hotel in Pedonalen near the former Camp in Dhërmi? /CNA
