Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi, in his speech in the Assembly, ironized and accused the majority, proposing a one-party Standing Parliamentary Commission composed of legislators from the Socialist Party who represent organized crime in the party and Parliament.
Këlliçi said that with the new parliamentary structure, the majority is not limiting itself but also its colleagues to discuss the new architecture of the committees.
The Democratic MP mocked Arbian Mazniku by saying that the SP is taking away the opportunity for Nesti Angoni to head a permanent commission, implying that he is proposing Mazniku as the head of the hypothetical commission.
"You are also limiting your colleagues and party members to defend and demand more space for yourself.
I am impressed that you violate the consensus established in this hall for three decades when it comes to discussing the issue of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly and do not give space either to your colleagues to discuss the new architecture of the Temporary Parliamentary Committees, or to the opposition to make its proposals.
I personally find it impossible to vote in favor of changing this regulation as long as I do not see a necessary commission for relations with drug cartels and structured criminal groups, which should in fact be a one-party commission and where you are taking revenge on your members and colleagues, excellent representatives of the gangs of the regions of Elbasan, Durrës, Shkodra and Tirana.
You are taking away the right of Nesti Angoni, who is in the Parliamentary Group, to be the chairman of a permanent parliamentary committee.
So, Mr. Speaker, to pass this issue silently and with the force of the cards, you know very well that you have the cards, but do not think that this issue will not be part of the public debate, informing citizens and accountability before the citizens of the Republic of Albania.
What you are doing today is simply using those seats that you have obtained through the excellent cooperation that you have as a political force with organized crime and structured criminal groups, and you are trying to silence the opposition.
Be convinced that this debate will continue. You may indeed remain the only Speaker of the Assembly who will approve and advance the amendment of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly unilaterally and you will be remembered for breaking the consensus established since the first post-dictatorship parliament, but I assure you that in this case you are not only narrowing the space for opposition MPs but you are also taking revenge on your colleagues from the majority.
It is unacceptable that accomplices in crime should not have the opportunity to speak in a permanent committee about these relationships.
I am proposing a committee, this is the most important committee and one that prevails over every committee of the Socialist Party.
"You cannot leave the representatives of criminal groups in the SP unrepresented in a permanent and one-party Special Commission," said Këlliçi./ CNA
