Draft law for the ratification of the Albania-Italy agreement/ Balla:

The Committee on Europe and Foreign Affairs is reviewing the draft law "On the ratification of the agreement, between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the government of the Republic of Italy, on strategic cooperation in healthcare, energy, environment, security and defense industry, immigration management, education, innovation, diaspora, economic transformation and smart growth".

The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, said that this agreement regarding the diaspora comes after 35 years. He expressed confidence that the agreement will be supported by all members of Parliament.

Among other things, he added that Italy is also home to the largest Albanian community in terms of diaspora. Balla praised the Arbëresh community, whom he said are a great inspiration for every Albanian.

"After 35 years, we have an agreement between our two governments regarding the diaspora. It has long been welcomed, the promotion of an agreement in the field of cultural exchanges and diaspora engagements. I believe this agreement will receive support from all sides of the Parliament. Italy is also home to the largest Albanian community regarding the diaspora.

Albanian diaspora in Italy, the largest number of voters abroad who participated in the May 11 elections. I am glad that television and digital channels have been provided that aim to strengthen the cultural and linguistic identity, both of the Albanian diaspora in Italy, but also of the Italian community in Albania. Here we must not forget the Arbëresh community, which is a great inspiration for every Albanian.

"After 500 years, the Arbëresh living in many regions of Italy are an excellent model of preserving and promoting Albanian culture and language. I believe we all agree that an achievement between our two governments was the conclusion, signing and entry into force of the mutual recognition of social contributions and insurance ," said Balla. /CNA
