"Integration Agenda, a Priority of the Assembly"/ Message from Pelesh:

The Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, shared a message on the occasion of the opening of the second session of the 11th Legislature.

In his speech at the opening of the plenary session, Peleshi emphasized that above all, the interests of the country and Albanian citizens must be taken into account.

Peleshi also focused on Albania's EU integration agenda, which he described as the main topic of this parliamentary session.

"I hope that this year will be a good working year, with more institutional calm and more results that are felt in the lives of citizens. The trust of citizens from all over the country has brought us to this Assembly. They expect us to take into account their interests and the interests of the country when proposing or approving laws.

Young people want to be convinced that tomorrow is better for them here than any other option. Older people want to be assured that the hard work of years of work will be rewarded with bright days.

Citizens, in the city or in the countryside, demand security and increasingly better standards of public services and infrastructure.

The integration agenda in the European Union, which will be the main topic of this new session, has extraordinary potential to provide answers to the challenges of Albanian society and to become an enthusiastic national narrative. This session is not simply a continuation of a calendar.

It is a second test, a test of our parliamentary maturity, of the standards that society expects from us, and of the ability to turn Albania's European moment into good laws, stronger institutions, and a more dignified political dialogue.

During the first session, we faced a significant workload and a busy legislative and oversight agenda.

"But, let's admit it honestly, in addition to the volume of work, we have often had an excessive political burden, far from our function and far from the real needs of citizens," Peleshi said./CNA
