This Wednesday evening, an international conference on the Museum of Islamic Art and Heritage project is being held in Tirana.

In his speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that this is a museum that highlights a part of the country's heritage and culture, related to Islamic art, as a testimony of the past that is not related to the imposition of history.

Rama added that there will also be an opportunity to have a museum in the center of the capital, as it will be a project located in the area known as 'Sarajet e Toptanëve'.

"A modest museum compared to the models that were presented. I believe that it is necessary and sufficient to convey this testimony, which for many is a missing testimony and even an impossible testimony because in the minds and ideas of many, Islamic culture and art have no connection with Europe and this part of the continent. The precious wealth of our tradition and culture, which many see as imposed by a part of history. Such a museum is a need, indispensable for the city. The moment has come to materialize this initiative, which will consist of two contemporary buildings because not only will they return to full identity, but the Toptan palace will be the museum that we will have in the center of Tirana", - said Rama. /CNA
