AGSH's denunciation of media restrictions/ Zhupa: Rama's repressive

Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa has reacted after the news was made public that the Parliament plans to ban journalists and cameras from participating in plenary sessions and staying in the Parliament courtyard.

Zhupa states that restricting media freedom and monopolizing events within the Assembly is harmful to democracy.

Ina Zhupa's full reaction:

"After Rama's message "beware of journalists" comes the plan to not allow journalists into the hall and courtyard where plenary sessions take place.

A restriction of media freedom, a monopolization by the regime of events within the assembly under the control of the majority is harmful to democracy.

This plan that is being prepared in the assembly offices also undermines the right of citizens to be informed about the activities of the deputies they have voted for.

Journalists have every right to question MPs and independently record the activities of the public parliamentary session. In Rama's republic of censorship, any space for freedom for journalists and MPs must be extinguished!

"Any such measure of these rights is repressive and unacceptable. And we will do everything to prevent it, when media freedom is among the priorities of the European Union and part of the first cluster", declares Zhupa./ CNA
