Will he run for the Municipality of Tirana?/ Agron Shehaj says it openly for CNA

The leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, spoke today about the idea of ??running in the race for the Mayor of Tirana.

In a statement to CNA, Shehaj openly stated that he does not intend to run for mayor of the capital.

Shehaj also spoke about a possible commitment to support a candidate from his party.

The leader of the Opportunity Party said that his only position is to come up with a common candidate for the opposition, with a non-political and independent figure, who can stand against the socialist candidate.

CNA: Have you considered running for Mayor of Tirana?

Shehaj: No, I haven't thought about it.

CNA: Have you considered committing to supporting a candidate from the Opportunity Party?

Shehaj: I have only one position regarding this, that the entire opposition, if it wants, should act as I have also made some posts on social networks. My opinion is that in the current situation, where the Socialist Party and the majority received almost 49% 3 months ago. Plus those of Tom Doshi. It falls to almost 52%. While the DP has 32% of the votes, I am talking about the Municipality of Tirana. Then there are us with 6%, the 'Together' Movement with 5%, the 'Albania Becomes' Initiative with 3%. Under these conditions, if the DP comes out with a candidate with 32% of the votes, the result is practically known. The only option we have is to come out with an independent candidate, who de facto unites the opposition, a common name. A non-political, respected figure, who has done something in life. Otherwise, the result is known. There is no way the results will be different in 3 months, if nothing has changed./ CNA
