The new port in Porti Romano/Rama: It will also be a new military base for NATO

The competition for the construction of the new commercial port in Porto Romano is open. 

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that in this port, in addition to commercial activity, there will also be a NATO military base. 

"There will also be a military wing, a new military base with optimal parameters. This port, which is being built from scratch, is a new port in Europe after many decades. We will have a port that will be an example of excellence. It is of great strategic importance, for Albania 2030 and beyond. This port makes Albania a key strategic point for the security of the entire region", said Rama.

The construction of the new commercial port of Porto Romano is expected to be completed by 2026 at a cost of 427 million euros. The commercial port is being moved to Porto Romano, because the tourist port will be built in Durrës. /CNA
