The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party, represented by Gazment Bardhi, submitted a request to the Constitutional Court on December 6, requesting the suspension of the immigrant agreement with Italy.

This Monday, PD has sent another letter to the Constitutional Court.

The Democrats want their request to be reviewed urgently, as they emphasize that on December 14, the majority will pass the agreement for a vote in the Assembly.

"International agreements are subject to review by the Constitutional Court before their ratification. The socialist majority, even though it has a request for the control of constitutionality, taking advantage of the strange silence of the Constitutional Court, is examining the agreement with Italy with an accelerated procedure and, contrary to the calendar approved by the Conference of Presidents, foresees its approval in the session of December 14, 2023.

Today I repeated for the third time the request addressed to the Constitutional Court for the suspension of the parliamentary procedure for the ratification of the agreement. The Constitutional Court should behave as such and not as a worthless appendage of Edi Rama's Government. The immediate preliminary consideration of the opposition's request is an obligation stemming from the Constitution and the Law on the Constitutional Court!
