DP in Brussels: Diaspora rejects the patronage of Edi Rama

PD deputies, Albana Vokshi and Elda Hoti, held meetings with Albanians in Antwerp and Brussels, Belgium. Through the many and painful stories of their departure from Albania, leaving behind family members and relatives, the longing and desire to return to their homeland one day stood out. Extraordinary interest on the part of Albanians in the diaspora to be informed about the registration and voting procedures.

Participants gave numerous testimonies of pressure to register on the Rilindash patronage lists, otherwise their family members or acquaintances would lose their jobs, economic assistance, KEMP or other services.

The chairman of the Belgian DP, Mr. Agim Sheta, in his speech, emphasized that this meeting with DP deputies in the Parliament of Albania serves to discuss the political situation in Albania, as well as ways to strengthen the role of the diaspora in the 2025 election process. "Let's use this opportunity, he said – to share ideas and expectations, and to strengthen the vital link between Albania and its diaspora.”

In her speech, Mrs. Hoti stopped at today's reality in Albania, completely different from the propaganda promoted by Edi Rama. "Albania is facing poverty, corruption and the mass exodus of young people, while government rhetoric tries to embellish this situation. It is our duty to work hard to make our country fairer, more developed and more prosperous, so that one day each of you can return to live in Albania. The departure of young people from Albania is one of the biggest problems, because youth is not a priority of the policies of this narco-government.

Organized crime, thanks to close ties with Edi Rama, has destroyed the rule of law, manipulated elections and deepened the poverty of citizens. To save democracy and the future of Albania, the roots of this corrupt system must be cut and a government that works for the people, not for the gangs, must be built. The Diaspora has a key role to play in bringing about change and helping restore hope, democracy and true development in Albania. You are our best ambassadors and an extraordinary force for the change of Albania."/ CNA
