With less than two months left until the May 14 local elections, the Chairman of the OSCE Presence, Ambassador Guido De Sanctis, organized today a meeting with the ambassadors of the OSCE participating states and international organizations in Albania to exchange information and to coordinate election support and attitudes.

Invited to the meeting, the State Commissioner of Elections, Ilirjan Celibashi, introduced the participants to the preparations of the Central Election Commission and answered their questions. He thanked the OSCE and other international partners for their continued support to the CEC.

Ambassador De Sanctis focused on the findings of the report of the OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission for the May 14 elections, as well as recalled the recommendations from previous reports that remain to be fulfilled. Considering the CEC as one of the closest and most trusted long-term partners, he assured that the support for this institution will continue.

Today's event was a special meeting of the International Working Group on Elections, created at the initiative of the OSCE Presence, which meets periodically to exchange information and coordinate positions./ CNA.al
