Greece has reacted strongly to the arrest of Fredi Beleri, the candidate of the "Together We Win" coalition, who won the elections in Himara.

Although Prime Minister Edi Rama was reserved to give an answer to the neighboring country, today another strong reaction came.

The Foreign Minister of Greece, Nikos Denidas, demanded the release of Beler, while he said that he loves the friendship between the two countries, but not at any price.

"We are not pushing or shouting, we want friendship, but not at any price", he declared.

The Greek minister emphasized that he will raise this issue at the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU in Brussels, where he will attend on Monday.

"Since the matter is extremely serious, I will be in Brussels on Monday morning. There we have a lunch with the foreign ministers of the Western Balkans. The issue should be raised in the Council of Ministers. It is not possible not to settle. It is not common to detain a mayoral candidate 48 hours before an election and keep him in custody. Why is he kept? What is this element of his dangerousness that requires prolonged detention? These are big questions", underlined Dendias./ CNA.al
