Meta meets the General Director of WHO / Reveals the request he made for Albania
President Ilir Meta and the General Director of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

President Ilir Meta met today with the General Director of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Meta has indicated that he talked to the director of the WHO about the Covid-19 pandemic and about his role during his 5 years at the helm of the WHO.

The Head of State announces that Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has asked him to increase attention and support for our health system.

“Në kuadër të punimeve të Forumit IX Global të Bakusë, pata kënaqësinë e veçantë të takoja Drejtorin e Përgjithshëm të Organizatës Botërore të Shëndetësisë, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, të cilit i urova shumë suksese për rizgjedhjen për një mandat tjetër 5-vjeçar në këtë detyrë shumë të rëndësishme.

Vlerësova kontributin dhe udhëheqjen e vyer si Drejtor i Përgjithshëm i OBSH-së në luftën dhe parandalimin e  pandemisë Covid-19 në mbarë botën, si dhe rolin e tij në reformimin e Organizatës, me një gamë të gjerë arritjesh në ofrimin e kujdesit shëndetësor në mbarë botën.  

E informova për efektet e rënda të COVID-19 në Shqipëri, si dhe për hapat që po ndiqen për tejkalimin e pasojave dhe rikthimin në normalitet.

I asked for increased attention and greater support from the WHO for our health system, in order to effectively protect the life and health of Albanian citizens.

Improving global public health is an urgency, to prevent any possible pandemics in the future and therefore requires better coordination for early warning systems and transmission tracking.

"I stressed that the priority of Albania as a member of the UN Security Council will be the strengthening of the WHO as the leading authority for global health, being at the center of the world health architecture", writes Meta on social networks./ CNA .co.uk
