This Wednesday afternoon, through a post on social media by the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, he appeared in a photo with his office ribbon and with a reaction from international lawyers from two law firms, who expressed their position and raised the claim that Veliaj was being held in prison without charge.

The reaction came after yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld the decision on the security measure 'prison arrest' against Veliaj, who was arrested on February 10.

That was enough for commentators to turn on Veliaj, slamming in his face the fact that he is in prison and facing serious criminal charges.

We remind you that Veliaj faces 13 charges, 9 of which are for corruption, 1 for laundering the proceeds of crime, 1 for abuse of office, 1 for bringing prohibited items into prison and 1 for concealing and failing to declare assets. /CNA
