Today, DP leader Sali Berisha held a ceremony in Shkodra in honor of the 4 martyrs who were killed on April 2, 1991, in the last massacre of Communism in Albania, in Shkodra.

Berisha stated that the martyrs of April 2 are a great inspiration for every citizen who must sacrifice for their freedom and vote.

"Today we are here to express our deepest respect, our boundless gratitude to the martyrs of the free vote. The true heroes of Shkodra and all of Albania. Arben Broci, founder of pluralism and the DP. Bujanar Bishanaku, a prominent activist. Nazmi Kryeziu, a prominent activist of the DP and Besnik Ceka, a prominent activist of this party. But we also honor 87 citizens of Shkodra, who were injured on that day of massacre, which Shkodra had never recorded in recent times in its memory.

On April 2, 1991, the last Stalinist dictator in Europe, Ramiz Alia, who had accepted pluralist elections, decided to celebrate the stolen victory in Albania's elections with the blood of the youth of Shkodra under the motive that power wants blood, that power comes from blood. Bloodthirsty as they were, they proved to Shkodra and Albania that as internal invaders, they were no different from other invaders.

They even had treachery and cruelty in their souls, they did not hesitate to wash this blessed city with blood. Dear friends, the sublime sacrifice of the martyrs of the free vote, the dozens and dozens of citizens of Shkodra who were injured that day, had extraordinary international repercussions.

It aroused revolt, the harsh condemnation of the entire democratic European public, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, the US Congress. Truly, the martyrs of free voting passed away that day, but they remained immortal in the spirit of freedom, in the free vote.
