Lawyer and Chairwoman of the Appeals Committee in the Democratic Party, Adriana Kalaja, declared today that the Democratic Party has requested that justice institutions consider and investigate in detail two cases where it is alleged that officials have taken money from citizens.

In a statement to journalists, Kalaja said that the two cases are related to the mayor of Mat, Agron Malaj, and the former mayor of Mallakastër, Agron Kapllanaj. 

Kalaja said that the DP has requested that SPAK continue the investigations into these two issues and adhere to legal provisions to take measures against them.

"For the hydroelectric power plant, we have also brought the decision that Agron Malaj gives permission to his brother Fatos Malaj. I don't know if you know. You could have asked, but he can also come for coffee. There should have been a security measure today. The reports should have been completed. Today, too, we have brought with facts and evidence how citizens' money was abused in Mat. He and his associates must answer before the law.

The same situation is with Agron Kapllanaj. Residents should think carefully about who they will vote for. He has been awarded 3 million euros.

We have also requested from SPAK the suspension of their candidacy. As provided by the legal provisions, they are dangerous persons and could destroy evidence. We have also requested asset control. I call on the institutions not to keep Edi Rama in power, but to serve the citizens", said Kalaja. /CNA
