Against Edi Rama's violence against local government

The Vice President of the Democratic Municipal Councilors Group and the Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Democratic Party, Ilda Zhulali, has stated that Edi Rama is violating the fundamental principles of democracy and the autonomy of local government.

Zhulali has reacted regarding the rally he will hold against SPAK this afternoon, saying that it is an unacceptable and arbitrary action, a flagrant act, an act of manipulation and oppression.

Today, Edi Rama is violating the most fundamental principles of democracy and the autonomy of local government.

The organization of a mandatory rally for Tirana Municipality employees, following the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj, is an unacceptable and arbitrary action:

- It is a violation of Articles 13, 45, 108, 109 of the Constitution and Articles 3, 4, 6, 22, 24 of the Law on the Organization and Functioning of Local Government.

- It is a flagrant act of imposition and control over the local government of Tirana.

- It is an act of manipulation and oppression.

- It is a violation of the principle of separation of powers.

I call upon you:

- Tirana Municipality employees to reject and boycott Edi Rama's illegal and unconstitutional acts.

- The President of the Republic, to react without delay, in defense of the Constitution and the laws of the country.

- OSCE, Council of Europe, Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, to condemn firmly and without delay the violation of the principles of the European Charter of Local Self-Government, the rule of law and decentralization by Prime Minister Rama./ CNA
