DP's Government Program Presented/ Berisha: We will end extreme poverty

The Democratic Party has presented today the Government Program 2025-2029. Present at this presentation was the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha.

Berisha focused on the topic of poverty, saying that extreme poverty in a country with Albania's economic situation only exists because it is stolen.

Berisha emphasized that with the living wage and the consumer card, extreme poverty will be put to an end in the first 3 months of the DP's government.

Therefore, the package that we have called the emergency package has one goal; to eradicate extreme poverty. It does not eradicate poverty, because poverty exists in every country. But extreme poverty in a country with the economic situation of Albania exists because that country is being robbed and only robbed by the government.

There is no reason, no reason, for this poverty to exist.

You have set a very good example by taking Kukës. But I will tell you what happened in Kukës. As soon as Edi Rama came to power, he removed economic assistance for 20 thousand residents in Kukës, because they voted against it, because the region voted against the SP.

However, those who know Kukës know that, except for a very few villages, the villages in that region as a whole have less land, and are villages whose residents cannot live without economic assistance.

And Albania that year should have added, there were 120 thousand citizens on economic assistance, it should have added at least another 60 thousand with registers and if it added these 60 thousand and increased economic assistance, Albania would have achieved what we are going to achieve now. It would have excluded extreme poverty or misery.

On the contrary, they came deepening and today, at a time when 41% of the population is at risk of poverty and destitution, a total of 61 thousand citizens receive economic assistance.

So all this is a hostile attitude towards Albanians and this will end in the first 3 months of our government. Whether with the living wage, or with the minimum wage that will not be less than 500 euros, or with the consumer card for all families in need or people in need who receive a salary of 500 euros or receive the living wage of 200 euros.

"It will be a proportion of water tariffs, energy prices, and we will do everything to free them from the pain of poverty in record time," Berisha said. /CNA
