The candidate of the Progressive Alliance for the Municipal Council of Tirana, Fabian Topollaj, has revealed that during this period there have been numerous abuses in the Municipal Council.

Topllaj emphasizes that the hall where the municipal councilors were supposed to give their proposals or discuss the issues was done in the scenography of Veliaj.

He further lists the facts revealing that the National Theater collapsed a day before the decision was made in the council for its demolition.

Topollaj adds that the urban plan of Tirana that was approved has been changed three times in order to add construction spots for customers according to the interest of the day.

According to him, more money was collected year after year from the new construction tax than every year they gave more building permits than you had predicted at the beginning of the year.

Two-thirds of the Tirana Municipality's budget lek were spent on inflated political staff payments and luxury expenses.

Among other things, Topollaj stated that they cannot spend even half of the investment funds in Tirana within the year because they are incompetent.

" Because of the main opposition forces who thought they invented the wheel when they boycotted the 2019 elections, this council was not plural and for this reason it was the strangest body ever elected, which I am sure will not be repeated again. The fact that you absolutely own this council should have made you more responsible in the way you behaved with it and how it functioned, while you abused it to the extreme by not convening the municipal council for two years in a row.

By not enabling councilors to discuss the acts, even in a formal way.

I remember two years the meetings were held only by e-mail.

Even in the few years that you gathered in this hall, this halo turned into the scenography of Veliaj's speeches.

No discussion from the advisers, no proposal from them. None reflected our work, also because the municipal council was not functioning, it was the notary of the mayor's proposals, while the municipal council has a completely different role.

On one of the few occasions that I, as an opposition city councillor, asked to speak again, he did not allow me to because I was absurdly obstructed.

The opportunity to make the denunciations outside this hall was even more limited because the media is controlled either by Veliaj who considered me an oppositionist or by the other side who had trouble keeping any piece of the opposition's yard.

I am proud of what I achieved as the only representative of the opposition in this mandate. Without my presence, I would not even know that you demolished the national theater one day before the council formally voted for its demolition. You changed the urban plan of Tirana three times that you yourself had approved to add to the stains of the construction of your customers according to the interest of the day. Therefore, if I manage to be elected in the next term as a municipal councilor in the logo of the LZHK Progressive Alliance, regardless of who will be the mayor, I will still be in the opposition with him because I think it is more worthwhile to be in the opposition even when you are alone as I was these four years", said Topollaj./ CNA.al
